Two people have been killed and two others wounded in a stabbing attack near Tel Aviv, Israel. The suspect, a Palestinian from the occupied West Bank, was shot dead by police. The incident took place in Holon during morning rush hour near a gas station and a park. A 66-year-old woman and a 68-year-old victim died at the scene, while a man aged around 80 was injured as well as a 26-year-old. Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visited the scene and encouraged citizens to arm themselves in response.
The attacker, a 34-year-old man from Salfit in the West Bank, reportedly entered Israel without a permit. Israeli forces closed the entrance to Salfit, leading to fears of further action in the town. This incident follows heightened tensions in the region, with fears of a regional war growing following recent assassinations in Tehran and Beirut.
The stabbing attack was described as a “natural response” to Israeli attacks and the assassination of a Palestinian political chief. Meanwhile, an Israeli air strike in Gaza killed at least four people at a tent camp in a hospital complex, where displaced Palestinians were sheltering. The situation remains tense in the region, with Western governments urging their citizens to leave Lebanon immediately. The incident underscores the deep-seated conflicts in the region that continue to escalate.
