Far-right violence erupts in Sunderland during UK anti-immigrant demonstrations | The Far Right News

Violent far-right riots broke out in Sunderland’s city centre, with several hundred people attacking police and setting fires after a series of anti-immigrant protests following the tragic killing of three children at a dance class. Eight individuals were arrested, and three officers were hospitalized. The disorder was described as “utterly deplorable” by Northumbria Police Chief Superintendent Helena Barron. The unrest came after similar incidents in other English towns and cities, fueled by anti-immigrant sentiment and misinformation about the children’s killer being a Muslim immigrant.

The Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, denounced the violence, stating that the rioters do not represent Britain and will face consequences for their actions. Faith leaders reported attacks on mosques and increased security measures. Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with local leaders in Southport to offer support, announcing new measures to tackle disorder, such as sharing intelligence and deploying facial recognition technology.

The Metropolitan Police in London prepared for further protests, following clashes between protesters and law enforcement at previous rallies. The Muslim Council of Britain called for action to prevent such behavior in the future. Downing Street showed solidarity with those affected by illuminating the building in pink. The situation remains tense, with concerns about continued violence in the coming days.
