The Israeli military carried out an airstrike in a suburb of southern Beirut targeting a commander responsible for an attack on the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights which killed 12 people. The commander survived the airstrike, according to sources. Tensions have escalated between militants in Lebanon and Israel following the terror attack by Hamas. Hezbollah, whom Israel blames for the attack, denied responsibility. The Israeli military claimed the attack on Majdal Shams was the deadliest on civilians in Israeli territory since October 7. The airstrike in Beirut targeted a Hezbollah stronghold, resulting in the collapse of a building and the death of two people. Israel has been on high alert, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warning of a possible all-out war with Hezbollah. This incident is reminiscent of a previous Israeli airstrike in Beirut in January that killed a top Hamas official, marking the first time Israel had hit the city since the 2006 conflict with Hezbollah. The ongoing clashes between Lebanon and Israel have raised concerns of a regional conflict.
