Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to head trade delegation to Italy

Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia is set to lead a weeklong trade mission to Italy in an effort to strengthen economic ties with Italian businesses and foster new partnerships. The mission, organized by the state Department of Economic Development, will include meetings with executives from companies such as Beretta, Pirelli, TMC Transformers, and Aquafil, all of whom have operations in Georgia.

Italy is a significant trading partner for Georgia, with $3.4 billion in total trade between the two entities last year. Italian companies have also invested over $411 million in various projects involving the state, leading to the creation of about 5,000 jobs across 90 Italian-owned facilities in Georgia.

Governor Kemp emphasized the importance of enhancing the economic and cultural relationship between Georgia and Italy, building on the successful foundation that has been established over the years. This trade mission follows a recent trip to South Korea led by Kemp and marks the first mission to Italy since 2017, when then-Governor Nathan Deal spearheaded a similar initiative.

The governor’s office expressed optimism about the potential benefits of the trade mission, highlighting the opportunities for collaboration and further investment between Georgia and Italian businesses. The trip is seen as a strategic move to bolster the state’s economy and foster international relationships in a global marketplace.
